Okay...so...perhaps I shouldn't have made anything out of the Patriots video taping the other teams signals? Hey...if there wasn't something wrong with it, then other teams wouldn't have complained so much...and it wouldn't have been news. I am sorry...but saying that other teams do it...pissant excuse. That's like your kid being caught getting a candy bar by 5 finger discount and he counters with, "other ppl do it".
There are rules and regulations. It is unsportsmanlike to NOT follow the rules...otherwise, why bother? The Pats didn't follow the rules, they got caught, and I am sure nothing will really come of it. It just puts a black mark on the team...becuz like Barry Bonds and the steroids, it makes the fans wonder...and it is difficult to take their 'wins' seriously. Did they come by them honestly...or did they cheat each time?
Cheating is cheating...no matter what kind of cheating it is. Whether it is taping of signals, shooting steroids, chop blocking, etc.
I don't take sports all the serious. It is a fun past time. (except watching the Browns TRY to play football). I get disgusted with all the antics and stupidity by the players...and the coaches.
But, in the long run...I just enjoy watching a good game whether it is baseball, football, basketball. It would just be nice if they would all play above board...no cheating. Then no one will have to wonder if they really are that talented or....
Keep writing n smiling,
Once you do one dishonest act, then others lose all faith/trust in you and it is a LONG road back.
As of yesterday, the NFL fined Coach Bill Belichick $500,000. The team also received a fine as well as forfeiting a draft pick.
If the Patriots make it to the Super Bowl, they will have to forfeit their first round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. If they do not make the Super Bowl, they will keep their first round draft pick. They will, however, have to forfeit their second and third round picks.
As for the Browns, I say the league give them the draft picks the Patriots had to forfeit.
I love the Browns, but I really have to question their hiring process when it comes to offensive coordinator. It just seems that since the Browns had returned to the NFL in 1999, the offense always seems to struggle.
As for the Browns...yes, offensive coordinators have NEVER done the job the way it should be...Charlie Frye is LUCKY to have been traded away. I just hope he wasn't ruined by playing for the Browns. If I were Quinn I'd be hiding out somewhere.
